The Straightening Bind

Your father gave you your smile,
An electric jolting shock gave you life
Alabaster fishing ties
Ascending through heavenly light--
Gliding on it.
Deadpan humourless glory
That leather brought down on me:
I cringed beneath the laughter
And fumbled to my knees.
What lives beneath the surface
lives
And is inorganic in its plight
You say there's a lot to change:
and I agree, though I may not fight.
